The developer will play a key role in enhancing civic engagement tools and improving the platform’s functionality, accessibility, and performance. The selected candidate will work with a Ruby on Rails–based framework to upgrade the platform to the latest Decidim version, implement new features, resolve system issues, and ensure the platform operates efficiently for public participation initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Upgrade the Decidim platform (Ruby on Rails–based) to the latest version. Implement new features including improved filtering, taxonomies, spam prevention, and bulk processing tools for proposals. Enhance accessibility features, including alt-text support for embedded images. Improve platform navigation, menu organization, and project management workflows. Update and maintain existing modules including Participatory Budgeting, Proposals, and Accountability components. Troubleshoot and resolve bugs related to exports, attachments, outbound links, account creation, and system functionality. Customize and repair the Groups feature to improve usability and functionality. Develop user-facing statistics views and improve data management features. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Write clean, maintainable code aligned with Decidim architecture and best practices. Support deployment and DevOps processes including environment management, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud hosting when required. Required Qualifications: Minimum 4 years of experience with Ruby on Rails development. Minimum 4 years of experience with version control systems. Minimum 4 years of front-end development experience including JavaScript and CSS. Minimum 4 years of experience collaborating with developers, project managers, or designers in a team environment.
