The RAMPS team enables seamless fiat on/off-ramping — helping users transition between traditional finance and decentralized applications. This is one of the most mission-critical and revenue-impacting surfaces in MetaMask, and we’re expanding our technical leadership to support a growing roadmap.What you’ll doAs a tech lead on the RAMPS team, you will:Lead the technical direction and execution of ramp-related features and infrastructureGuide and mentor a team of junior and mid-level engineers (across backend, frontend, and mobile)Build secure, scalable systems that connect users to third-party ramp providers and payments infrastructureCollaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers from across MetaMask to ship cross-platform featuresMaintain high code quality through design discussions, reviews, testing, and documentationHelp ensure reliability, observability, and performance of the RAMPS servicesOwn architectural decisions that affect revenue-generating user flowsPartner with mobile and extension teams to create unified, seamless ramping experiencesWould be great if you brought this to the role5+ years of experience in full-stack or backend engineering rolesStrong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and modern web technologiesDemonstrated experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisionsFamiliarity with payment infrastructure, APIs, and 3rd party integrationsAbility to think critically about edge cases, system security, and failure modesStrong collaboration and communication skills, especially in remote-first teamsExperience working in agile environments with cross-functional teamsCommitment to clean code practices, testing, and maintainable softwareExcellent verbal and written communication in EnglishAbility to collaborate effectively across distributed teamsA growth mindset and eagerness to learnStrategic thinking — balancing technical quality with business outcomesPassion for Web3, decentralization, and open systemsBonus PointsExperience working on fiat on/off ramp systems, DeFi, or financial infrastructureUnderstanding of Web3 fundamentals, wallets, and the MetaMask ecosystemFamiliarity with mobile-first development and cross-platform architectureInterest in performance optimization, observability, and long-term system healthDon't meet all the requirements?
