What you'll do You will be an integral part of a software scrum team dedicated to creating and scaling APIs that serve residential and mobility customers across the globe and help improve our customer streaming experience. This work allows Viasat to efficiently deliver streaming content. You will design, implement, and enhance new and existing APIs and microservices that manage content provider's metadata and generate information used to maximize Viasat's bandwidth used. The day-to-day Designing and delivering features bi-weekly to help manage streaming content Work in an Agile environment within a talented 3-7 person scrum team Utilize established CI/CD pipeline and simple infrastructure delivery allowing you to more focus on design and coding of features Production support in a DevOps environment What you'll need 5+ years of professional software engineering experience Experience with Object Oriented Development Experience with REST APIs, APIs as products, the API lifecycle, and API management Experience with a modern development workflow including version control, unit testing, functional testing and code reviews Strong communication (written and verbal) skills, and ability to work with remote team members across time zones Dedication to code quality, continuous automation, and operational excellence Experience in a DevOps environment - operational support for live services and application frameworks BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related experience Ability to travel up to 10% US Citizenship required What will help you on the job Experience with Python and Falcon AWS related experience: RDS, DynamoDB, SQS Exposure to working with lots of data and querying it efficiently Knowledge of design patterns, UML, and microservices architecture Exposure to container and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes Exposure to logging/monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana Exposure to SLOs/SLIs Experience with HLS or DASH protocol Salary range $135,500.00 - $214,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $168,500.00- $252,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
