Job Description: biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are adding experienced software innovators to enhance our development efforts.This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills. Developers in the Team Lead position will lead a dev team, help coordinate the day-to-day activities of various team members, assist team with roadblocks, and lead planning sessions. This developer will work closely with the team’s product owner to become a subject matter expert (SME) for the domain. They will also serve as individual contributors on the dev team, taking on tasks for both technical design and development.Job ResponsibilitiesLead a cross functional, agile development team including members from development, quality assurance, and business analystsServe as technical SME for a particular domain within the overall platformProvide guidance and mentoring including pair programming, code reviews, demos, group/1:1 coaching, and career development planningDesign system features to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystemContribute to cross-team platform design decisionsCollaborate with Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are metFollow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvementParticipate in staffing decisions including interviews and hiringTake a lead role in creating technical documentation and content, ensuring that knowledge is transferred across the teamDay to day code contributions to our repo completing user stories/tasksGuide the team regarding unit testing; collaborate closely with QA leadership to guarantee successful functional and regression testing of all featuresEnsure that the team achieves system performance goalsLead the dev team to think with a security first mindsetTake ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure successProvide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the boxOccasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA area for strategy meetings (several times per year)Normal working hours based on Eastern US timeRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent working experience10+ years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#Excellent programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with C# and .NET3+ years of experience leading development teamsEnterprise level system architecture experience, designing and delivering RESTful APIs, integrations, and complex business processesEnterprise level design and configuration of cloud services including serverless, data storage, messaging, logging, etc., preferably with AzureExperience with design and implementation of both monolithic and microservice architecturesExperience designing reliable and performant data storage solutions and schemas utilizing cloud technologies including SQL DBs, Document DBs, and unstructured dataExperience with creating CI/CD pipelines supporting Infrastructure as Code (IAC)Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration capabilities, and attention to detailExperience working on large software development projects while collaborating across multiple agile teamsPreferred QualificationsCommercial Property and Casualty insurance experiencePractical working knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, and .NET CoreExperience with TypeScript and SPA frameworks (Angular, React, etc.)* Internal job title may vary as we have multiple internal levels of Team Lead*About biBerkbiBerk is where commercial insurance buyers can obtain coverage for their businesses from insurers of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, one of the best capitalized insurance groups in the world.
