Growing together. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, cloud-native software solutions. This position combines full-stack development expertise with emerging AI technologies to deliver innovative products that transform healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build secure, high-performance applications leveraging Java, ReactJS, Azure and AI/ML services. Primary Responsibilities:Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Java (Spring Boot) for backend and ReactJS for frontendAI Integration: Incorporate AI/ML APIs and services (e.g., OpenAI, Azure AI, Claude, Gemini) into applications to enhance functionality, personalization and automationCloud & Containerization: Build and deploy solutions on Azure (or multi-cloud environments), leveraging Docker, Kubernetes and microservices architectureUI/UX Implementation: Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces using ReactJS, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, and DevOps teams to translate business requirements into technical solutionsQuality & Security: Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices and ensure compliance with security, scalability and maintainability standardsAgile Delivery: Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives and continuous improvement initiativesTroubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring system reliability and optimal performanceDocumentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for system designs, APIs and processesComply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field6+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack development (Java + React)Experience with Azure cloud services, Docker and KubernetesSolid proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design and ReactJSExpertise in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design principlesExposure to AI/ML APIs and ability to integrate them into software solutionsSolid understanding of relational databases (MySQL, Oracle) and SQLFamiliarity with microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologiesProven excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications:Experience with DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code and tools like GitHub ActionsHands-on experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)Knowledge of performance optimization, monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, Dynatrace)Familiarity with serverless computing, event-driven architecture and modern cloud At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
