Job Description: Job DescriptionThe Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the planning, building and maintenance of Java/JVM distributed services deployed to the cloud, using modern container-based orchestration technologies. This role will work with a Cloud Architect on building code as infrastructure, and developing the CI/CD pipeline. This role will also collaborate with other development teams and team members to plan improvements, new products, features, and integrations. This is a full-time position with remote, hybrid and on-site opportunities available.ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage the entire lifecycle of projects or features, including engineering design, development, and deploymentImprove code structure and architecture in service of testability and maintainabilityWrite, co-write, and review design documentationMaintain a high-level of proficiency in one or more technical areasPrioritize and address unowned or undesirable work to facilitate team progressEnsure work meets quality standardCollaborate with team members and adjacent teams to solve problemsEscalate problems with a wider scopeDesign and implement modern distributed and scalable JVM-based distributed servicesUnderstand user requirements and translate them into product solutionsPerform code and test reviews and conduct systems analysis to ensure maintainable high quality deliverablesCollaborate with other development teams and team members to plan improvements, new products, features, and integrationsIdentify opportunities for improvement including automation, process reengineering and workforce managementMentor team members to share and instill best practices across the organizationMeets and maintains 6-month performance milestones as defined by their managerRequirements5+ years of experience in the Software Engineering field or related roleMinimum of 3 years experience in designing, building, and shipping high-availability production distributed servicesAWS certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent)Experience managing workloads in AWSStrong knowledge of ECS/Fargate and experience with AWS service integrationExperience with designing and maintaining container-based scalable distributed architecturesExtensive experience building, optimizing, and maintaining containersExperience with data/database design to support distributed servicesExperience with tool analysis and selectionExperience with OpenTelemetry implementation and configurationExperience with distributed log aggregation, analysis, and alarmingExperience with the Java/JVM ecosystem and troubleshootingExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance experience (Jenkins preferred)Preferred experience:Experience with security, particularly security infrastructure designExperience playing an active role in developing and shipping SaaS productsPractical knowledge of Kubernetes clusters and workloadsUnderstanding of EKS architecture and AWS integrationExperience migrating services from ECS to KubernetesExperience with Terraform and understanding of Terraform modules and best practicesExperience with state management and versioning approachesExperience implementing true Continuous Deployment, including automated testing integration in deployment workflowsExperience with frontend builds and Gradle build toolsExperience with multi-environment deploymentExperience with chaos engineering and resilience testingAbout UsWho are we?Champions for industrial automation innovation and driven by a mission statement to empower our customers to swiftly turn great ideas into reality by removing all technological and economic obstacles, we create and deliver solutions that relieve pain points, bring efficiency to operations and optimize integration.Why Choose Inductive Automation?Our passion goes beyond customers.
