This internship offers hands-on experience in data discovery, quality assessment, and digital transformation efforts in the public sector, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.The intern will work alongside Amini’s Barbados Program Manager and our highly qualified team of data science engineers to identify and document datasets, evaluate data readiness, and support the foundation for the development of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in the public sector. The type of work you will be doingAssist with data audits and mapping exercises across selected ministries and departmentsClean, structure, and analyse datasets to identify data quality and consistency issuesApply knowledge in LLMs and retrieval-based AI systems (e.g., RAG pipelines) to build intelligent, context-aware systemsExplore and prototype applications of knowledge graphs and network analysis in real-world domainsWork with large-scale datasets, including temporal, text, graph data etcCollaborate with engineers, scientists, and product teams to translate business challenges into data-driven solutionsCommunicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiencesDocument workflows and assist in creating impactful reports and presentationsWhat you will needBachelors Degree in a relevant field (STEM, Data Science, Computer Science, Geospatial Science, Statistics,  IT, etc.) or a related field.
