We are looking for a Backend Developer on our Promotions team to develop the server-side components of our web-based applications. This role is perfect for developers who excel at creating scalable APIs, optimizing application performance, and securing modern web platforms. You have a command of backend web technologies, an understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), experience collaborating in a team setting, and an ability to turn complex requirements into elegant backend solutions. You'll help power the functionality behind our user-facing systems and ensuring our applications run smoothly, securely, and reliably and can scale to meet the ever growing needs of our clients. Key Responsibilities Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, and server-side components using Node.js and Vue.js. Implement secure, scalable, and performant solutions that integrate with front-end applications and third-party systems. Data handling and business logic using efficient coding and caching strategies. Write well-documented, testable, and maintainable code with clear version control practices. Collaborate with a team, including Front-end Developers, QA, and Project Managers, and our clients' technical teams to deliver feature complete programs from concept to production. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues promptly. Write technical documentation including API references, architecture diagrams, and deployment guides. Follow secure coding practices and help ensure compliance with internal and external security standards. Contribute enhancements to our underlying promotions platform. Familiar with Web Application Firewalls (WAF), especially AWS WAF. Qualifications 2–5 years of experience in backend web development. Proficiency in server-side JavaScript (Node.js). Experience with Node.js and Express design principles. Experience with modern web protocols, API standards, and application architecture. Experience with unit and integration test patterns. Experience with SQL databases, schema design, and performance tuning. Grasp of web application security principles and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10). Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, CloudFront, WAF, and Web ACLs. Working knowledge of HTML, HTTP, JSON, XML, SSL, TCP/IP, and how they apply to modern backend development. Experience with Java or Perl is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. The annual salary range for this position is$68,000 - $110,400. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
