We take a full-lifecycle approach to our projects, built on a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the environment.Job Summary:The BESS Control System Engineer will maintain and troubleshoot control systems related to battery energy storage systems (BESS), develop and implement solutions to control system issues, and help design and implement new ways to interact with BESS power plants through the LRE SCADA overlay. You will be responsible for providing technical solutions in conjunction with a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure technical outcomes exceed appropriate standards while identifying areas of improvement.  You will support BESS plants from development into their operational lifecycle and beyond.Responsibilities:Create and maintain control code or logic for multiple types of EMS, BMS, and/or PLCsCreate HMI applicationsTroubleshoot electrical and controls issues pertaining to BESS systemsSupport remotely and occasionally travel to customer sites as requested to evaluate BESS installations, assist with startup and testing, troubleshoot to ensure the EMS, BMS, and accessories are operating to requirementsCreate specifications for special featuresDefines a path to solving complex or unusual problemsLeads complex projects through the project life cycleResponsible for maintaining standard documentation and procedures as applicableOverseeing the planning and execution of control modifications and upgradesTesting and verifying the performance of systems and productsResponsible for providing technical solutions for EMS & BMS.Performs maintenance to control code and implement software updates on BESS equipment and accessories as neededResponsible for design system interfaces to integrate BESS EMS and BMS with LRE’s SCADA overlayPerform and document validation resultsCollaborate with and mentor other engineers within Operational Technology, Technical Services, and consultants as neededIn this role, you will have the opportunity to travel up to 20% to LRE Sites.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering preferredMinimum of 5 years of Power Plant Control and/or SCADA experience with at least 2 years of control software development or testing experience in BESSDemonstrated proficiency in multiple programming languages, specifically Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++.Excellent problem-solving skills are requiredAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as necessaryClear oral and written communication skills are requiredAbility to work closely with team members of diverse backgroundsExperience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookPhysical Demands:Position will require sitting for long periods of time.Occasionally lifting twenty pounds or more.Moderate travel#LI-HybridLeeward Management Services, LLC is committed to employing a diverse workforce and provides equal employment opportunity for all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a protected veteran, genetic information, status as a qualified individual with a disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.Notice to Recruiters and Staffing Agencies: Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiting vendors or employment agencies.
