More schools and districts, and larger schools and districts are buying ParentSquare to help families and educators communicate and partner in support of their students, and we need you!  We need to not only ship clear, simple functionality that makes educators’ lives easier, but we also need to build and run systems that operate robustly at scale, while ensuring the highest level of security for the schools and districts that rely on us.We are seeking an Android Engineer who will work with our customers and your teammates from product, engineering, design, sales, and marketing to ensure we build the right thing as quickly and as simply as possible. You will both teach and learn from your teammates as you seek to understand their challenges, needs, and expertise as you work with them to ship new features. You will do a little bit of everything - design, code, test, deploy, debug, find and fix bugs, reduce costs, secure our systems, run projects, document challenges, improve processes, and be a trustworthy member of our team.Most importantly, you’re someone who shares in our passion for improving the lives of students through communication. This role will include:Partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver value for our end users and ship new features in the ParentSquare Android appMaintain the Remind Android app with your team membersDesign, break down, release, and lead projects that serve the educators and parents who rely on ParentSquare every dayCollaborate with peers in the engineering org to continuously improve the cost, security, scalability, and maintainability of the overall ParentSquare ecosystemWork towards operational excellence by identifying and fixing bugs, reviewing your peers’ code, monitoring and optimizing performance, and debugging systems when faults ariseHave clear communication and a bias toward collaboration and actionProvide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineersOur ideal candidate will have the following:Experience with Java, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, ViewModels, MVVMFamiliarity with Coroutines, Kotlin Flows, reactive programming, Fastlane tools, CircleCIExperience integrating REST/GraphQL APIs as well as JSON:API specBachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems (Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, etc.), or related field.Familiarity with incremental, agile development processesFamiliarity with using AI and agentic programming in day-to-day tasks (Gemini, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) Why Join Us?At ParentSquare, we believe in winning together and building a product that truly serves schools, educators, and families.
