We're seeking engineers to utilize advanced technology in agile settings, with a focus on improving the customer experience for every collector. We are looking for backend software engineers who can build flexible and scalable backend architectures that can support a wide range of experiences for collectors who are trying to research, grade, and sell their collectibles. Your work will directly help improve collectors' enjoyment of the hobby and make it easier for new users to get started with the services that we offer.This team is responsible for building modern cloud based applications and APIs and user-facing web and mobile applications to help users manage and monetize their collections. As a member of this team, your day-to-day work will be focused on building out the backend services and processes that support high profile features including the eBay Marketplace, PSA Offers, and the customer facing portal to the PSA Vault.You’ll report to a Software Engineering Manager and work from any of our US offices. Remote or hybrid candidates will also be considered. We believe that there is significant value in in-person collaboration. If you live within a 1 hour commuting distance to one of our offices, you will be required to be onsite most of the time. This will be discussed further as part of the recruiting process.What You’ll Do:Contribute to the design and development of new cloud-based software architecturesOwn and deliver complete features, including design, architecture, implementation, testability and deploymentProvide feedback pertaining to technical designs, proposals and codeAnalyze existing applications / databases and identify areas for improvementDesign and contribute to APIs that can support user experiences on web and mobile applicationsParticipate across the entire software development lifecycle, taking features from concept to production releaseCollaboratively create solutions with other teamsTroubleshoot software issues and debug a large codebaseDevelop and execute unit and integration testsContribute to technical documentation to increase maintainability of software assetsWho You Are:7+ years of software engineering industry experience building backend software, with exposure to microservices, event-driven architectures, and batch processing.4+ years experience / strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot frameworkStrong fundamentals working with databases and data modeling, both relational (e.g. PostgreSQL) & NoSQL (e.g. DynamoDB)Experience with building applications in the cloud with AWS and experience with serverless infrastructure such as AWS LambdaExperience with containerization and orchestration infrastructure (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Apache KafkaExperience collaborating with Engineering and Product teams to turn complex business requirements into clean and extensible APIsNice to have: experience with Python as well as test frameworks such as pytest or unittestNice to have: experience with Node.js and TypescriptPossess strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to visualize and document processesProficient at using appropriate security, documentation, and/or monitoring best practicesFamiliar with Agile/Scrum methodologiesSalary Range: The salary range for this position is $159,169 - 258,903. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set.
