This role is ideal for an experienced QA professional who combines deep technical skill with a systems-level view of software quality. Automation experience is highly valued, though not a hard requirement.What You’ll DoLead the design and execution of comprehensive test strategies across workstreams and platformsAuthor and own detailed test plans, test cases, and test data strategies aligned to complex user workflows and system architectureDrive defect identification, documentation, root cause analysis, and resolution tracking through to closureServe as a QA thought leader in Agile ceremonies—sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviewsMentor and guide other QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality across the teamEvaluate and expand test automation frameworks and CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines (automation experience a plus)Analyze user needs and target environments to ensure solutions align with current architecture and accessibility standardsChampion quality process improvements and introduce modern testing methodologies to drive efficiency and coverageEngage with stakeholders to communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations clearlyRequirementsWhat You Bring5+ years of professional software quality assurance experience, including complex enterprise or government systemsDeep expertise in test planning, test case design, defect lifecycle management, and release readinessStrong command of Agile/Scrum practices and cross-functional collaborationHands-on or working knowledge of Appian is a huge plus.Experience mentoring QA team members and contributing to process standardizationFamiliarity with cloud-based environments and modern web application architectureProficiency with tools such as Jira, TestRail, or equivalent QA management platformsHands-on or working knowledge of test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar) is a strong plus—not requiredHands-on or working knowledge of Process Playbook desired but not required.Section 508 / accessibility testing experience is highly desirable.Prior experience with federal or VA.gov digital services is highly desirable.Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or other engineering/technical discipline.
