About the Role
At OpenLoop, we’re building the infrastructure that powers seamless, reliable communication across the organization. As a Senior Software Engineer, Platform, you will play a critical role in standardizing how internal teams integrate with communication platforms (e.g., SMS, email, and other event-driven systems).
This hire directly addresses a core need: creating a scalable, consistent, and high-quality foundation for companywide communications. You’ll build greenfield systems that are both highly visible and mission-critical.
You’ll own technical decisions, ensure engineering excellence, and drive architectural quality while collaborating cross-functionally across the company.
What You'll Do
Architect and build event-driven platform systems from the ground up
Own projects end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, and delivery
Make high-quality technical decisions during active development
Standardize internal integration patterns for communication services
Improve observability, reliability, and performance across messaging systems
Partner cross-functionally with product, operations, and other engineering teams
Raise the technical bar through thoughtful design and code quality
Who You Are
Strong experience designing and building event-driven architectures
Proven ability to own projects from architecture through QA and release
Demonstrated critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
Strong decision-making ability during active system design and development
Experience building scalable backend systems in production environments
Deep understanding of system design, reliability, and performance trade-offs
AWS expert
Preferred experience:
Experience building systems for programmatic SMS delivery or email platforms
Experience working on communication infrastructure or messaging pipelines
Familiarity with distributed systems and asynchronous processing patterns
Experience building platform-level or shared infrastructure services
