What You'll DoWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the financial infrastructure behind Fold. You'll design, build, and scale backend services that power payments and real-time transaction processing. This is a chance to have an outsized impact at a company where your technical decisions shape the trajectory of the product.Day to day, that means:Designing and implementing scalable, reliable backend services that handle real-time transaction processingBuilding and evolving event-driven systems for processing financial eventsIntegrating with external partners — card processors, banking APIs, payment networksOwning features end-to-end, from technical design through deployment and monitoringCollaborating closely with product, design, and fellow engineers to ship quickly and iterativelyMentoring other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and architectural guidanceImproving engineering practices, tooling, and infrastructure as the team growsWhat We're Looking For5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java or a similar statically-typed language (Kotlin, Scala, C#)Experience building and operating production microservices and distributed systemsExperience with messaging or event streaming systems (Kafka, Pulsar, or similar)Solid understanding of relational databases with an intuition for data modeling and transactional consistencyComfort working with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and containerizationExperience scaling systems in a fast-paced, growth-stage environmentStrong communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego mindsetWhat Will Make You Stand OutExperience with financial systems, payment processing, or ledger/accounting domainsFamiliarity with event-driven architectures, CQRS, and event sourcing patternsExperience with Micronaut, Quarkus, or similar modern Java frameworksPassion for BitcoinYou're already a Fold userCandidates must have permanent legal authorization to work in the United States.
