Position Overview:We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Back-End Software Engineer who can combine deep technical expertise with leadership skills. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor team members, and ensure our back-end systems are scalable, secure, and efficient. The ideal candidate is adaptable, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has experience working with diverse technologies including Java, Node.js, C++, and TypeScript.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex back-end systems.
Mentor and guide junior and senior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Drive architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to define technical strategy.
Oversee DevOps practices, managing AWS infrastructure and services.
Promote and implement best practices in code quality, CI/CD, and deployment processes.
Utilise Docker and similar containerisation tools to streamline development and deployment.
Monitor and analyse system performance using tools such as Datadog, proactively identifying improvements.

Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in back-end development.
3 years of proven leadership experience, including mentoring developers or leading technical teams.
Expertise in multiple programming languages, including Java, Node.js, C++, and TypeScript.
Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and AWS services, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
Extensive experience with Docker and containerisation tools.
Familiarity with logging and analytics tools such as Datadog.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic technical decisions.
Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with remote teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the trading or financial services industry.
Familiarity with front-end frameworks and how they interact with back-end systems.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
