What you’ll do Own key platform APIs end to end, from RFC to rollout and monitoring Shape the partner developer experience (docs, SDKs, sample apps, sandbox flows) Build clean contracts and stable interfaces for identity, eligibility, scheduling, claims, and reporting Work with standards like OAuth2/OpenID Connect and FHIR/HL7 when they help, and keep things simple when they don’t Collaborate with product, security, data, and customer teams to turn real integration pain points into shipped solutions Measure impact and iterate quickly Lead the design, development, and optimization of services built on Ruby on Rails. Architect and implement event-based systems leveraging RabbitMQ and other messaging technologies. Design and optimize schemas and queries for relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). Drive the development of FHIR-compliant APIs for healthcare interoperability. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across teams. Partner with product, compliance, and business stakeholders to translate healthcare workflows into reliable software solutions. Advocate for engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and system observability. Collaborate in cross-functional discussions on scalability, security, and patient data protection. What does success look like?   30 days: understand the systems, earn trust, adapt to the workflow: learn how the stack fits together, ship a few quick wins, and line up the first bigger initiative. Find your groove on the refiners meetings, turning business requirements into sharp focused JIRA tickets. Develop a technical design document for a larger feature and get it rolling. 60 days: lead an initiative and de-risk it: Take ownership of a cross-team project from design to first value in prod and raise the bar through reviews, patterns, and mentoring. Find your cruising speed and hit your sprint velocity. Root out a significant piece of technical debt and resolve it. 90 days: Establish a leadership presence on the team. Propose and roll out changes that affect higher quality releases and reduce bug rates. Understand the strengths and shortcomings of the system and propose a roadmap to improve system reliability and observability. Acquire deep expertise on our systems, communicate with external business partners and become the leading expert on our Enterprise APIs. Who You Are Required: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience. 5+ years with Ruby on Rails in large-scale production environments. Proven experience with event-driven architectures and RabbitMQ (or similar message brokers). Strong background in relational database design and performance optimization. Ability to provide architectural guidance, mentor engineers, and drive technical initiatives Preferred: Experience with Python in production systems. Hands-on experience developing FHIR-based APIs. Background in building highly available, distributed systems in healthcare or other regulated industries. A mix of startup and enterprise healthcare experience. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
