About The RoleAs a Staff Data Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will play a key leadership role in developing the core data systems and applications that power Veho’s Analytics and AI workloads. Your work will focus on building efficient, cost-effective data tools that empower stakeholders across the business. You will drive the architecture and development of critical initiatives, including: new tooling for enforcing data contracts between teams, overhauling our event-to-warehouse data pipelines, a new data catalog, new testing and data sampling tooling, and upgrading our vendor data integrations. Your impact will be direct and tangible, shaping the tools and features used daily by both HQ and Ground Operations.Reporting to the Tech Lead Manager of the Data Platform Team, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our data platform not only meets but exceeds standards for engineering quality, reliability, and performance.Responsibilities Include:Architecting, building, testing, and deploying data tools that empower engineering teams to move quickly without compromising operational goals Modifying designs and specifications of complex applicationsCollaborating and adding value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestionsWorking with technical and non-technical end-users, other engineers, and product managers in a cross-functional, quick-moving, and collaborative environmentAnalyzing code, requirements, system risks, and software reliability and providing recommendations on how to leverage our technology more efficientlyWorking with Product to confirm requirements, prioritization, and development of new featuresActing as a player-coach alongside Engineering peers, to build high-quality software efficiently while also fostering team growth through mentorship and collaborationWhat You Bring:Has 8+ years of experience building, testing, and deploying backend applications and distributed data systemsDeep understanding of distributed systems, and how they can go wrong.
