 BACKEND SOFTWARE ENGINEER (DATA & PLATFORM)

OVERVIEW
We are supporting a fast-growing health and biotechnology organization building a platform that processes and analyzes large-scale biological and health data. This role focuses on designing and maintaining backend systems that support complex data pipelines, heavy computation, and AI-powered workflows.

This is an ideal role for a Backend Engineer who enjoys solving hard problems, working with large datasets, and building scalable systems from the ground up.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Design and build scalable backend services using Python and Django
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs that support a data visualization platform
Optimize heavy computational workloads using asynchronous processing and efficient database queries
Work with PostgreSQL and Redis to manage complex data models and caching strategies
 Collaborate with senior technical leadership to integrate AI/ML models into production pipelines
Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple data layers
Containerize services using Docker and support deployment workflows
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Strong experience with Python and Django in production environments
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and experience with Redis or similar tools
Experience supporting computationally intensive or data-heavy systems
Familiarity working alongside AI/ML models in production is a strong plus
Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Ability to quickly learn complex domain-specific concepts
COMPENSATION (BASE SALARY ESTIMATES)

Junior level (0–2 years): $90,000 – $115,000
Mid-level (3–5 years): $125,000 – $155,000
Senior level (5+ years): $165,000 – $195,000+
