Founded in 2006 from the creators of Kali Linux, OffSec (formerly Offensive Security) is the powerhouse behind the world’s most respected cybersecurity training and certifications. We don’t just teach theory—we live by our try harder ethos, delivering hands-on, real-world learning that builds elite defenders and closes the global infosec talent gap. At OffSec, you’ll be part of a mission-driven team shaping the future of cybersecurity. With colleagues across 45+ countries, our community thrives on diversity, expertise, and passion—ranging from published authors and keynote speakers to government advisors and private-sector innovators. Work from anywhere. Collaborate with brilliant minds. Push boundaries. If you’re ready to grow, make an impact, and be part of something bigger—join us. The Role We are looking for a Staff Engineer who is obsessed with solving real problems using technology. Not someone who knows every answer, but someone who figures it out — fast, creatively, and end-to-end. This is a mission-critical role for someone who thinks in systems, builds with AI, and gets genuinely excited about turning a messy business problem into an elegant working solution. The ideal candidate doesn’t wait to be told what to build. They identify the problem, break it down, and ship something that works. If you’ve used AI to accelerate your coding, designed interfaces, wired up integrations, and thought deeply about why something needs to exist — not just how to build it — we want to talk to you. What You'll Do Build and Ship End-to-End Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality features across the full stack — from database to UI. Use AI coding tools actively and effectively to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality or clarity. Take ownership of problems from idea to production, including edge cases, monitoring, and iteration. Think in Systems Break down complex, ambiguous problems into well-defined components before writing a line of code. Provide architectural input on critical systems, balancing speed with long-term stability. Anticipate failure modes, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges before they become incidents. Drive Product + Technical Thinking Work closely with Product and stakeholders to challenge assumptions and make sure we’re solving the right problem, not just the stated one. Ask the essential questions: Why does this need to exist? Who does it serve? What’s the simplest version that works? Identify and automate inefficiencies across the development lifecycle. Elevate the Team Mentor mid-level and junior engineers — not just on code quality, but on problem decomposition and engineering judgment. Set standards for how AI tools are used responsibly and effectively across the team. Conduct code reviews that teach, not just approve. What You'll Bring Demonstrated AI coding fluency — you use tools like Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar daily and know how to get the most out of them. 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of owning and delivering complex work. Expert proficiency in TypeScript and Python, and solid experience with modern cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP). Systems thinking — you can decompose a large problem, design the pieces, and reason about how they interact. Builder mindset — comfortable moving across front-end, back-end, infrastructure, DB but also thinking about product and prototyping. Product mindset — you care about why you’re building something, not just how. Curiosity and self-direction — you don’t need everything spelled out; you dig in, find the answer, and move. What Makes You Stand Out You’ve built something end-to-end using AI — a product, a tool, an integration — that solved a real problem, possibly on your own or as the primary driver. You’ve used AI not just for boilerplate but to genuinely accelerate system design, debugging, or architecture decisions. You’ve worked in small teams or early-stage environments where wearing multiple hats was the norm, not the exception. You’ve pushed back on requirements because you understood the underlying need better than the brief. Working conditions This role is a full-time position. Work hours for this position are flexible and will be performed from a home office.
