Full Job Description
Title: Solutions Engineer

Job Summary
The Tolemi team is looking for creative, data-minded team members to help our local government customers create and maintain safe and stable housing. As a Solutions Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in helping cities to transform into data-driven organizations by supporting the implementation and maintenance of our workflow and registry tool, Slate.

You’ll have the opportunity to work along-side our municipal partners where you’ll act as both consultant and engineer: advising, building, and delivering best-in-class solutions to their data and engineering challenges.

You’ll work closely with our Customer Success & Engineering teams to streamline implementations, and to build our internal processes.

Responsibilities and Duties
● Support and lead data migrations of municipal raw data into our tool

● Build custom reports using SQL

● Standardize and map municipal raw data using SQL (PostgreSQL)

● Debug logs and error messages to identify root causes to issues, and to work alongside engineering to build and deploy fixes

● Identify recurring patterns, recommend best practices, and upgrade legacy integrations to the current standard

● Own documentation for data integration best practices

● Drive continuous improvement of our processes and internal tools

Qualifications and Skills

Technical skills

● Proficient to advanced SQL knowledge (writing and optimizing complex queries - using CTEs, subqueries, json flattening, window functions, indexes, joins, aggregation etc.)

● Experience working with relational databases

● Experience with Javascript frontend and/or backend

● Ability to automate basic scripts for data automation and retrieval using in-house configurable templates

● General understanding of APIs, command line tools, networks, FTP servers

● Experience writing shell scripts

● Experience with GIS (shapefiles, ESRI ArcGIS, PostGIS, QGIS)

● Experience with Windmill

● Experience working with workflow automation tools and software

Communication and Project Management skills

● Clear communication with internal and external project stakeholders

● Managing deadlines, leading discussions with internal stakeholders, prioritizing multiple projects

● Experience working with municipalities (housing, planning, code, IT)
