Direct mail. And no, we're not your grandfather's print shop. We built DOPE Marketing into a $30M company in under four years. Bootstrapped. No VC money telling us what to build. We cracked 100 employees, made the Inc. 5000 twice, and we're now entering the most interesting chapter we've ever had. We're optimizing, expanding, and rebuilding the infrastructure of an industry that hasn't meaningfully changed since 1995. Our platform combines data-driven targeting, automated campaign management, and a full-service print and mail operation, all accessible through software that thousands of home service businesses rely on every single day. We are not a company that has already peaked. We are a company just getting started on the hardest and most interesting problems we have ever tackled. The Role The engineering world has fundamentally changed. The engineers thriving right now are the ones who recognized that shift early and leaned into it. That is the standard we hold ourselves to and it is the standard we are hiring for. We are not just a company that talks about AI. We are actively building toward a fully AI-integrated operation and this seat is at the center of that. You will not be watching this transformation happen from the sidelines. You will be one of the people building it. This role comes with unlimited token usage, dedicated company budget for AI tooling and continuous learning, and the expectation that you will be leading how we build, not following a playbook someone else wrote. Our stack is Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and React. You will ship features that directly impact revenue and customer experience, own integrations with payment processors, data providers, and mailing APIs, and contribute to the technical foundation of a platform that is actively expanding. This is not a meeting-heavy role. You will be writing code, reviewing code, solving real problems, and seeing your work go live. If you need the structure of a large company this is not your spot. If you thrive when given real ownership, real problems, and the trust to figure things out, you will fit right in. What You Will Own Building and shipping new features on our Ruby on Rails platform.  Maintaining and improving existing codebase performance, reliability, and code quality.  Collaborating with product to translate requirements into technical solutions.  Working on integrations with third-party services including payment processors, data providers, and mailing APIs.  Contributing to architecture discussions and code reviews.  Writing tests, documentation, and owning production stability. What We Are Looking For 3+ years of professional experience building production applications in Ruby on Rails.  Strong product mindset, you do not need a PM to tell you what good looks like.  Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and MongoDB.  Experience with RESTful API design and third-party integrations.  Comfort with front-end technologies including JavaScript and React.  Ability to take a feature from concept to production with minimal back and forth.  Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows.  AI-enabled development practices are a non-negotiable part of how we work. Bonus Points Experience in SaaS, MarTech, direct mail, or print industries.  Salesforce integration experience.  Familiarity with Stripe, Shopify, Twilio, HubSpot, or similar APIs.  Experience with data vendors like Atom Data or Data Axle.  Background in design management systems, templated design tools, or creative automation platforms. Our Culture We value direct communication, personal accountability, and critical thinking. We hire people who see problems, say something, and fix them. Our leadership team operates on EOS and we expect every team member to own their results and communicate openly when something is not working. We would rather hear a hard truth on Monday than find a hidden problem on Friday. How to Apply Submit your resume and a link to your GitHub, LinkedIn and your portfolio. We also require one of the following: a short video or a written explanation of an AI project or side project you have worked on in the last 90 days. It does not have to be polished. We want to hear what you built, how you approached it, and what you learned. This tells us more about you than anything else you could submit. We are genuinely excited to hear what you are working on right now. If you are not actively building or learning something outside of your day job at this moment, this is probably not the right fit. Applications without this will not be considered.
