This critical team is responsible for developing robust systems that process, validate, and reconcile transactions by ingesting vast amounts of information from our payment networks, ledger, and partner banks. The core mission is to establish a single, trusted source of financial truth, which involves identifying and swiftly resolving any discrepancies. Furthermore, the team builds and maintains our internal billing system, ensuring all payments are accurate and timely. This work is vital for Synctera's and our partners' financial health and is key to ensuring regulatory compliance. We’re looking for someone who is curious and enthusiastic about these areas – and the broader FinTech ecosystem. You approach engineering with a product and customer mindset, especially when collaborating with teams outside of Product and Engineering. You have a strong sense of ownership, think critically about how to use technology to deliver value, and are motivated to maximize impact and drive meaningful progress. What You’ll Do Build and maintain scalable, reliable backend services in Go (Golang) Develop and maintain robust backend systems for financial data processing, validation, and high-volume transaction reconciliation Establish and maintain a single, trusted source of financial truth, including swift identification and resolution of data discrepancies Build and operate the internal billing system, ensuring accuracy, timely payments, and compliance with regulatory standards Find cleaner, simpler ways to solve technical problems and improve existing systems Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve engineering problems Partner with Product and Engineering teams to understand complex financial services challenges and design solutions Identify and implement process improvements and development best practices that raise the bar for quality and efficiency Advocate for and mentor software engineers in development best practices, fostering skill and knowledge-sharing across the team What You’ll Bring 4-6+ years of professional work experience as a software engineer Experience with Go or a comparable structured and opinionated language Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases Experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud Experience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customers Experience building and designing distributed systems Nice to have: Experience being a part of early-stage, fast-moving engineering teams Experience with Python / GitLab APIs / Google Cloud APIs Familiarity with payment rails and financial systems Diversity & Inclusion Synctera is committed to having a workforce that is reflective of the diversity within the United States and Canada.
