Full Job Description
GISC seeks a skilled Mid-Level Software Developer to deliver advanced software solutions using engineering and mathematical analysis within the Department of War. The successful candidate will analyze user needs and engineer robust applications with modern software development practices, contributing to tailored, rapidly fielded, and cost-efficient solutions for Department of War initiatives under NAWCAD WOLF.

This role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, integration, and sustainment. It requires collaboration with content developers, program management experts, designers, and network stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that meet user needs and mission requirements, applying principles of computer science, software engineering, and mathematical analysis.
Build and enhance subsystems and software components using modern web and application technologies.
Develop and maintain relational and enterprise databases, writing optimized queries and managing schema design using SQL and Oracle.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to support automated testing, integration, and deployment.
Containerize applications using Docker and support containerization strategies to improve portability, scalability, and deployment consistency.
Collaborate with established toolkits and contribute to the evolution of the NAWCAD WOLF platform to deliver reliable, rapidly deployable solutions that reduce development and sustainment costs.
Integrate software systems, develop specifications, and implement functional requirements in coordination with cross-functional teams.
Support cloud application development and contribute to scalable, secure, cloud-native architectures.
Contribute to AR/VR, data analysis, and decision support tool development as mission needs arise.

Certification

Must be certified or certifiable to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher within 90 days of the project start.
Experience

Minimum of 4 years of overall professional experience in software development.
At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing and sustaining subsystem and software components with technologies such as XML, SCORM, IETM, HTML5, JavaScript, C#, Python, R, or related tools.
Experience with database development using SQL is required; Oracle experience is a plus.
Familiarity with CI/CD practices, GitLab pipelines, Docker, and containerization is strongly desired.
Experience in cloud application development, AR/VR, decision support systems, data analysis, or video game engines is a plus.
Candidates with 2+ years of software development experience within the DoD may have total experience requirements reduced by 1 year.
