Job Title: Senior Software Engineer Company Name: Contexture Job Url: https://contexture.bamboohr.com/careers/93 Job Description: Summary: The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the development, modification, and advanced support of the Health Information Exchanges (HIE) interfaces for the Contexture Health Information Exchange, and development of HIE tools using solutions and technology such as C#, SQL, MongoDB, APIs, and Web UIs.     As part of the Application Development Team at Contexture, this position will support the secure development of new and existing solutions at Contexture through all phases of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC). As applicable, after hours may be necessary for purposes such as after-hours deployments, critical support issues, changes, or major incident response needs.   This role is responsible for cross-functional collaboration and communication to ensure that developed and supported products and services function securely and optimally. The role will often be looked to as a decision maker and must become intimately familiar with Contexture Dataflows, Infrastructure, Platform, Tools, and Products. As a Senior Software Engineer, some autonomy is expected. This may include self-driven development efforts requiring on-the-fly decision making in terms of design and approach which must be communicated with leadership and documented for knowledge transfer to the larger team. This role requires excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to provide guidance to leadership to other members of the Contexture team as applicable.   Lead responsibilities for projects may be assigned requiring collaboration and communication with the VP of Application Development & Support and the Product Development Team Lead to discuss design, LOE and Timeline estimates, Resource requirements, and execution planning. Occasionally leading a small team of one or more developers toward a project goal is expected so experience in successfully leading small development teams is required.    This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Develop quality software and code, both independently and within small groups, to specified requirements using Agile methodologies for Contexture’s current and future tools and solutions. Mentor and train Software Developers on tools, techniques, security considerations, and on coding and industry best practices. Collaborate on and occasionally lead design sessions and technical requirement discussions for product enhancements, new products, projects, and tools. Occasionally lead other developers toward project goals and lead in Knowledge Sharing sessions within development and other teams. Intermittently assist in the evaluation of new development focused tools and technologies for use within Contexture. Work with the Vice President of Application Development & Support and other team members to establish and follow development and security best practices for integrations and custom development. This position will be encouraged to think independently and to provide feedback and suggestions for ongoing and upcoming development efforts. Work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance (QA), Implementation and Project Managers to support technical efforts throughout the SSDLC. Document the technical specifications of developed and developing solutions. Perform intermittent peer code reviews and to assist in version control activities. Versatility and adaptability to evolving priorities in projects and tasks. Develop software across multiple platforms utilizing security best practices. Function as tier 3 support on post-production issues for Contexture and non-Contexture solutions and products. Must be available for after-hours work, outside of normally scheduled hours. Actively, accurately, and professionally manage workload, and track progress against tasks and projects using Agile methodologies. Performs other related duties as assigned.   Required Skills & Experience Minimum 10 years of object-oriented Software Engineering. Minimum 7 years of C# with a strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design. Minimum 4 using JavaScript Frameworks particularly Vue.js and Nuxt or Related Web Development. Excellent understanding of XML/JSON. Minimum 4 years of experience developing APIs and Web Services. Good understanding of Git Version Control (GitHub). Proficiency with databases such as MSSQL and NoSQL solutions, particularly MongoDB. Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working as part of a team. Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) is a must Self-driven approach to learning. Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical business users and customers both verbally and to create appropriate documentation to reduce single points of failure.  Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff.   Desired Skills & Experience Agile development practices using JIRA. Healthcare data standards knowledge (including HL7, CCDA, IHE and FHIR). Understanding of cloud computing and Infrastructure scaling. Experience in Unit Testing development using tools such as XUnit and Playwright. Experience with QA testing using tools such as Postman and Cypress. Education/Experience Minimum of 10+ years of experience in information technology and/or software development. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or another related required; equivalent directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.   Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
