Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Qt Software Engineer to develop software for custom embedded devices based on NXP i.MX8 and NVIDIA platforms.

This is a remote work-from-home contract position, but candidates must be located within 50 miles of Seattle, Washington. Applicants located farther than 50 miles from Seattle will not be considered.

This is a 1099 independent contractor role. No benefits are provided.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with Qt/C++, embedded Linux, and software development for hardware-based systems. Preference will be given to engineers who also have experience with backend engineering, REST API development, database design, and Java/Spring microservices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Qt-based software for embedded devices
Build applications for NXP i.MX8 and NVIDIA-based hardware platforms
Develop production-quality UI and application logic using Qt and C++
Integrate software with device hardware, peripherals, drivers, and Linux system services
Troubleshoot performance, stability, and hardware/software integration issues
Collaborate with product, platform, and backend teams on technical solutions
Participate in software architecture and technical design
Write clean, maintainable, testable code and perform code reviews
Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong experience with Qt and C++
Experience with embedded Linux
Experience building software for custom hardware devices
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
Strong software design and architecture skills
Must be located within 50 miles of Seattle, WA
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be able to work as an independent contractor under a 1099 arrangement
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with NXP i.MX8
Experience with NVIDIA embedded platforms
Experience with Yocto
Experience with hardware integrations such as touchscreen, camera, USB, serial, sensors, or networking
Experience with backend engineering
Experience developing REST APIs
Experience with database design
