GCP Data Architect – Remote

Location: Remote (USA)

Job Type: Contract / Full-Time

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Architect – GCP to design, build, and optimize scalable, cloud-native data platforms. This role will focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern data architectures, including lakehouse, real-time streaming, and analytics solutions.

You will work closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver high-performance, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement enterprise-scale data architectures on GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub)

Build and optimize data lake/lakehouse solutions using modern architecture patterns

Develop ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and real-time data processing

Architect real-time streaming solutions using Pub/Sub, Kafka, and event-driven design

Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Optimize query performance and cloud cost efficiency

Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

Provide technical leadership and mentor data engineering teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

5 plus years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Architecture

Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP):

BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage

Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Python, SQL

Experience with data lakehouse architectures and data modeling

Strong understanding of data security, governance, and compliance frameworks

Experience with DevOps tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

Lead the design and architecture of large-scale data solutions utilizing GCP services such as BigQuery, Data Lake, and Dataflow to support analytics and reporting needs.
Develop comprehensive data models and schemas that align with business requirements, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of structured and unstructured data.
Build and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using tools like Informatica, Spark, and custom scripts in Java, Python, or Bash to facilitate smooth data flow across systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement NoSQL databases such as Cloud Bigtable or Firestore for high-performance applications.
Integrate diverse data sources including SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop ecosystems, and linked data frameworks to create unified data environments.
Drive the adoption of Agile methodologies for project management and continuous delivery of scalable data solutions.
Ensure compliance with best practices in database design, security protocols, and governance standards across cloud platforms like Azure and AWS.
Support migration initiatives from on-premises systems to cloud-based architectures while maintaining high availability and performance.
