About Steady

Steady is a pre-seed stage company building a modern, human-centered platform supporting addiction recovery, wellness, and long-term behavior change. We sit at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and community with a deep respect for privacy and trust. Steady is in beta on iOS with a companion web app.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to help build Steady across the full stack, owning both backend systems and user-facing product development. This person will be comfortable making early architectural decisions and setting the long-term bar for security, scalability, and reliability as the product evolves.

You’ll work closely with Steady’s co-founders to translate product vision into a secure, extensible technical architecture and you’ll have real ownership from day one.

We’re looking for someone who is aligned with the mission of Steady, understands the stakes of handling sensitive health-adjacent data, and can think several steps ahead.

Responsibilities

Architecture, Backend & Product Engineering (Full Stack)

Design and build a secure, scalable full-stack architecture for Steady, spanning backend systems, APIs, and user-facing applications
Own data models, backend services, and integrations, while also contributing directly to core product features across web and mobile
Make thoughtful early decisions around infrastructure, cloud services, databases, and developer tooling, setting the long-term bar for security, reliability, and scalability
Partner closely with the co-founders to translate product vision into well-designed, extensible technical systems that can evolve as Steady grows
Build with a security- and privacy-first mindset, recognizing the responsibility of handling sensitive, health-adjacent user data
Compliance & Security

Implement SOC 2 Type I-aligned technical controls early (e.g., access management, logging, change management, incident readiness), with a deliberate path toward SOC 2 Type II as the platform scales
Build backend systems with a clear path toward HIPAA-compliant architecture, including secure data storage, data separation, access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and auditability
Technical Leadership

Act as a senior technical thought partner to the founders
Set engineering best practices, standards, and patterns
What We’re Looking For

Required

3+ years of full stack engineering experience
Direct experience building or maintaining SOC 2 and/or HIPAA-compliant systems
Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, and data modeling
Experience with secure cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
Deep familiarity with security best practices (encryption, access control, logging)
Ability to work autonomously in an early-stage, fast-moving environment
Strongly Preferred

Experience in healthcare, health tech, recovery, or regulated environments
Experience setting up compliance-ready infrastructure from scratch
Familiarity with modern tech stacks
Experience working closely with founders or early product teams
