We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the core architecture behind these products. You will design, build, and scale APIs and data pipelines that power our risk scoring, visualization, and AI-assisted analysis. Your work will directly support capabilities like large-scale property ingestion, hazard model computation, and interactive analytics across millions of locations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems independently in distributed systems, spatial data processing, and performance optimization. You will collaborate closely with our data, product, and AI teams to build the infrastructure that makes Neural Earth’s insights fast, reliable, and actionable.

Responsibilities
Lead the development of robust and performant backend software solutions, encompassing RESTful APIs, databases, and cloud-native technologies.
Architect and implement scalable software systems to support current and future business requirements.
Drive the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, ensuring alignment with cloud-native principles.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend components with other layers of the infrastructure.
Qualification
‍Proficiency in Python, PHP, or TypeScript/JavaScript, with a focus on backend development.
Extensive experience in software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and debug software defects effectively, for example evne driven architectures and high-throughput data pipelines
Deep understanding of principles and methodologies of deploying production SaaS platforms.
Expertise in cloud services, particularly AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or DigitalOcean.
Hands-on experience with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch, ArangoDB, Neo4j).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven track record of translating business requirements into technical specifications.
Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies for software development.
Preferred
Experience with frameworks like Django or FastAPI.
Experience working in a startup environment.
Experience working with geospatial data and backends to performantly provide geospatial analytics and insights.
Travel
Up to 10%.
