Join a team building critical infrastructure for genomics research. You’ll own and evolve a multi-package R ecosystem used globally for scalable, reproducible bioinformatics analysis.



Responsibilities:
Maintain and coordinate releases across 20+ interdependent R packages (Bioconductor cycle)
Ensure stability, backward compatibility, and system reliability
Fix bugs, address security issues, and support users
Improve CI/CD, testing, and documentation
Refactor legacy systems and reduce technical debt
Collaborate with backend, infrastructure, and data teams
What we expect:
3+ years of experience developing production R packages
Strong knowledge of S4 object system and method dispatch
Experience with Bioconductor ecosystem and release cycles
Proficiency with R dev tools (testthat, roxygen2, CI/CD)
Experience with REST APIs, OAuth2/JWT authentication
Proven experience maintaining production systems
Onshore presence or 4-6 hours PST overlap required
Ownership and independent decision-making
Strong focus on code quality, scalability, and reliability
Ability to balance modernization with system stability
Proactive approach to solving complex technical challenges
Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams
Nice to have:
Cloud storage integration (e.g., multipart uploads, presigned URLs)
Experience with HDF5, CSV, JSON schema validation
Databases (SQLite or distributed systems)
C++/Rcpp for performance optimization
Bioinformatics/genomics domain knowledge
Open-source contributions to R packages
