Job Description: As an Innovation Lead, the Principal Architect will spearhead the development of new optical products for Lumen, driving forward cutting-edge solutions that enhance the company's technological capabilities. This role involves effectively communicating both technical and financial benefits to peers and C-level teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with the strategic vision. Additionally, the Principal Architect will act as an industry leader, guiding optical vendors towards creating products and services that will benefit Lumen over the next 1-3 years, thereby positioning the company at the forefront of innovation and excellence.

The Main Responsibilities
Optical Strategist: Design next-generation Optical Transport networks 
Visionary: Envision future optical network over a 1-3 year horizon and turn them into reality 
Standard Bodies Participation: Engage in standard bodies such as an MSA, IEEE, OIF, Open ROADM, etc., to drive Lumen’s initiatives 
RFP Leadership: Lead complex Request for Proposal (RFP) for new optical technical initiatives
Business Case Development: Develop business cases to support architectural designs and decisions 
Data Mining and Trending Analytics: Utilize strong data mining skills to extract network data and present current and trending demands 
Cost Model Derivation: Derive marginal and long-run average cost models to support corporate financial models and capital planning
Automation Vision: Create an automation vision for the Optical Product line
Architectural Recommendations: Recommend architectural ecosystems to support Optical products 9.

What We Look For in a Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, optical, or Telecommunication engineering, or 10+ years of equivalent experience and training.
Master of Business Administration, or 10+ Years of equivalent experience in financial modeling
Strong analytical approach to solving problems
Willing to tackle ordinary problems and propose extraordinary results
Experience communicating technical solutions from C-Level to entry level employees
Has been the technical subject matter expert that has successfully led a new Product introduction into the production network
Strong data extraction and analytic skills using tools like SQL and PowerBI
Preferred Qualifications:

 

Knowledge in the following areas: TDM, Synchronization, Quantum Encryption
Participation in at least one standard body
