Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Experienced AS400 iSeries Programmer to join our dynamic software development team. In this role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in AS400 (Application System/400) and iSeries environments to design, develop, and maintain robust enterprise applications. Your innovative approach and proactive mindset will drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and scalability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex projects utilizing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, ensuring seamless integration across diverse platforms and services.

Duties

Develop, test, and implement high-quality applications on the AS400/iSeries platform using RPG, COBOL, CL, and other relevant languages.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions aligned with business goals.
Maintain existing legacy systems while modernizing components through integration with web development frameworks such as ASP.NET, React, Angular, and Node.js.
Design and optimize database schemas for DB2 on the AS400 as well as external databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server; ensure data integrity and security.
Create RESTful APIs and web services to facilitate communication between legacy systems and modern applications using WCF, SOAP, JSON, XML, and other protocols.
Implement unit testing strategies to ensure code quality; utilize version control tools such as GitHub, TFS, SVN for source code management.
Participate in Agile development cycles by contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
Debug complex issues across multiple environments including Linux and Windows servers; perform performance tuning for optimal system operation.
Document technical specifications using UML diagrams; adhere to SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices throughout project phases.
Skills

Extensive experience programming on the AS400/iSeries platform with proficiency in RPG (Report Program Generator), COBOL, CL (Control Language), T-SQL, PL/SQL.
Strong knowledge of database design principles for DB2 on the AS400 as well as external databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server.
Hands-on experience developing web applications with ASP.NET (including ASP.NET MVC), React.js, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bootstrap for responsive UI design.
Familiarity with web development frameworks like Node.js and Ruby on Rails; ability to build scalable microservices architectures using RESTful APIs or SOAP web services.
Proficiency in modern software development practices including Agile methodologies; experience with version control systems like GitHub, TFS (Team Foundation Server), SVN.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure for deploying scalable solutions; experience with containerization tools like Docker is a plus.
Skilled in debugging complex code issues across multiple environments; adept at performance tuning and system optimization.
Ability to create comprehensive UML diagrams for system architecture documentation; strong understanding of SDLC processes from requirements gathering through deployment.
Experience integrating front-end UI components using HTML5, CSS3, XSLT; familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like React Express or Angular is preferred.
Familiarity with application security best practices including API security protocols such as OAuth2; understanding of WCF services and REST API design principles.
