NQS partners with hospitals and health systems across the United States to modernize legacy registry systems, improve data quality, and deliver advanced reporting and analytics that support both clinical improvement and operational performance. Position Summary The Data Migration Engineer is responsible for supporting the migration, transformation, validation, and reporting of clinical registry data from legacy platforms into the NQS Registry Intelligence Platform. This role plays a critical role in onboarding new health system clients by converting historical registry data, validating schema alignment, and ensuring accurate ingestion into NQS systems. In addition to migration responsibilities, this individual will support reporting and analytics initiatives by developing SQL queries, dashboards, and visualizations that help clients and internal teams understand and leverage registry data. The ideal candidate combines strong technical data skills with attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Data Migration and Client Onboarding Support extraction, transformation, and migration of registry datasets from legacy systems into the NQS platform. Prepare and process datasets including CSV, DBF, Excel, JSON, XML, and other structured healthcare data formats. Translate legacy registry structures into standardized NQS data schemas across trauma, burn, surgery, and related registries. Develop and maintain field mappings, crosswalk tables, and lookup datasets to support migration processes. Execute internal ETL workflows and migration scripts to load client data into the platform. Identify and resolve data formatting issues, missing values, and inconsistent data structures. Perform sourcetotarget validation to confirm accuracy and completeness of migrated datasets. Document migration logic, transformation rules, and clientspecific data requirements. Data Quality and Validation Validate transformed fields against registry standards, data dictionaries, and system requirements. Conduct reconciliation and validation testing to confirm successful migration outcomes. Collaborate with registry staff and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and refine mapping logic. Support ongoing improvements to NQS migration processes, tooling, and documentation. Reporting and Analytics Support Design and develop SQL queries to extract and analyze clinical registry data. Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Apache Superset or similar business intelligence tools. Support reporting for trauma performance improvement, regulatory reporting, and operational analytics. Assist internal teams and clients in interpreting data outputs and validating reporting accuracy. Optimize queries and reporting workflows for performance and scalability. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with engineering, onboarding, product, and customer success teams during client implementations. Participate in discovery discussions to understand legacy system structures and reporting requirements. Provide technical insight during onboarding and data validation processes. Communicate migration progress, risks, and validation outcomes to leadership and project stakeholders. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical field. Strong experience working with structured data including CSV, Excel, JSON, and XML datasets. Advanced SQL skills with experience building complex queries and performing data validation. Experience supporting data migrations, ETL pipelines, or database integrations. Strong attention to detail when working with complex datasets and transformation rules. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with crossfunctional teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience working with healthcare data, clinical registries, or hospital information systems. Familiarity with trauma registries, burn registries, NTDS, TQIP, or related clinical datasets. Experience with Apache Superset or other BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI. Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational database platforms.
