You will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with a Veteran first vision to transform the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) with greater visibility into claims processing. Your Role: As a Data Engineer supporting the Reporting & Metrics of the UCAP solution and future operations, you’ll serve as a critical bridge between requirements, deliverables and decision makers. This position will support a variety of UCAP program reporting and metrics functions ranging from data analysis, science, transformation and translating those into Tableau reporting dashboards. Reporting and metrics will help shape both decision makers and system improvements that deliver measurable outcomes for VBA claims processing. You will work closely with the program and project management teams, stakeholders, project delivery teams, operations team, and the reporting & metrics team. Key Responsibilities: · Design and develop interactive Tableau dashboards using advanced charts to visualize key performance indicators. · Build and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load structured and unstructured data into scalable AWS-based data platforms. · Design and optimize data architectures using AWS services like Glue, Redshift, S3, Athena, and RDS. · Implement and enforce data governance, security, and quality policies in accordance with VA standards. · Support data ingestion from legacy systems and external partners, including OCR, APIs, and flat files. · Develop reusable scripts and automation for data transformation and orchestration (Python, SQL, PySpark, etc.). · Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to support advanced analytics and ML initiatives. · Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune performance of ETL workflows and database systems. · Contribute to DevSecOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering components. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or cloud data platforms. 3+ years of experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server for developing, publishing and refreshing critical reports and dashboards. Hands-on experience with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, Athena, etc.). Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL development. Familiarity with data lake and data warehouse architecture. Experience with DevOps tools, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance in regulated environments. Experience with healthcare or government datasets is a plus. AWS certifications such as Data Analytics – Specialty or Solutions Architect preferred. U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance REQUIRED.
