Full Job Description
Countrywide Tire & Rubber is a tire distribution company based in Minnesota. We are looking for a part-time backend contractor to support ongoing development of our e-commerce platform, ERP integrations, and other automation projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, communicating clearly about scope and progress, and diving into an existing codebase with minimal hand-holding.

This is a contractor role, estimated at 10–15 hours per month with potential to grow. Hourly rate negotiable based on experience.

Our Tech Stack

You’ll be working within:

Backend: Python / Django
Frontend: EJS templating, HTML/CSS/SCSS, JavaScript (jQuery)
ERP: SAP Business ByDesign (SOAP and OData APIs)
Server: Ubuntu Linux with systemd services and cron-based automation
Automation: Python scripting for inventory sync and trading partner data feeds
Data: PostgreSQL
Version control: Git / BitBucket
Integrations: SAP, WooCommerce, EDI, and custom
Responsibilities

Backend Django development - writing and maintaining server-side logic, views, models, and URL routing within the existing codebase
Automation scripting - developing and maintaining Python scripts that run on a scheduled basis to sync data between SAP and trading partners
Debugging and troubleshooting - diagnosing issues in production, reading logs, and resolving performance or data integrity problems
API design and maintenance - building and documenting RESTful endpoints consumed by the frontend and external partners
SAP ByDesign API integrations - building and maintaining SOAP/OData queries for inventory, sales orders, outbound deliveries, and ATP availability checks
Note: The heavy architectural lifting and SAP mapping have already been completed by management and broken into clear Trello tasks; your focus will be on pure implementation and coding.

Code review and documentation - writing clean, maintainable code and documenting your work clearly for a small team
Required Skills

Strong Python proficiency - 3+ years of professional experience
Django - comfortable navigating and contributing to an existing Django project
REST API development - building and consuming APIs, understanding of HTTP and JSON
SOAP/XML - ability to read and write SOAP requests; prior ERP API experience a plus
SQL - comfortable writing queries; PostgreSQL experience preferred
Linux/Ubuntu - comfortable working on a remote server, reading logs, using systemd and cron
Git - standard workflow including branching, pull requests, and resolving conflicts
Self-directed work style - able to manage your own tasks with light oversight in a small team environment
Nice to Have

SAP Business ByDesign experience (especially OData or SOAP API integration)
Experience with EDI
Familiarity with B2B e-commerce or wholesale distribution workflows
Python automation/ETL scripting (scheduled jobs, data transformation, file-based feeds)
WooCommerce or other e-commerce platform integration experience
What We’re Looking For

We're a small team and this role doesn't require a rigid schedule, though we do meet once a month. Above all, it requires reliability and clear communication. You should be comfortable:

Picking up work from a Trello board or similar task tracker
Asking questions when scope is unclear rather than spinning your wheels
Providing a sample project, portfolio, or GitHub profile to show your work
Working within a codebase you didn’t build from scratch
