Backend Engineer – Report APIs (Client-Facing, Contract-to-Hire)

Overview
Simatree is seeking a Backend Engineer to support enterprise clients by building high-performance, scalable API services for analytics and reporting platforms. This role focuses on designing and operating backend services that power report generation, scheduling, and delivery in Snowflake-centered data environments.

What You’ll Do
- Design and build backend services using Python and modern web frameworks
- Develop RESTful APIs to support report generation and delivery
- Integrate backend services with Snowflake for data access
- Implement caching strategies to improve performance and scalability
- Ensure reliability, performance, and error handling of API services
- Partner with frontend engineers on API design and integration
- Collaborate with data engineers to optimize queries and data access
- Implement API documentation and testing practices

What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong Python development experience
- Experience building RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience integrating with Snowflake
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with API performance optimization
- Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments
- Strong communication skills

Nice to Have
- Experience with FastAPI
- Experience with Redis or similar caching technologies
- Experience building reporting or data-heavy APIs
- Experience with API documentation standards (OpenAPI / Swagger)
- Familiarity with AWS-based deployments

Engagement Model
Contract-to-hire, fully remote (U.S.-based)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $95,946.61 - $115,548.61 per year
