Job Title: Software Engineering Lead - MavenAI Company Name: ApartmentIQ Job Url: https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/abodo/jobs/7630174?gh_src=my.greenhouse.search Job Description: Back to jobs New Software Engineering Lead - MavenAI Remote We are defining the future of the Rentals Industry ApartmentIQ is a profitable, growing company building the industry's most advanced operating system for multifamily real estate. Last year alone, we shipped three new products — and we're just getting started. We have two category-leading engines: ApartmentIQ, which provides deep market intelligence and data, and Maven, an AI-driven marketing automation platform. Now, we are combining them. We are forming a brand new team to build the connective tissue between Intelligence and Action. We are a fully remote group of 100+ spread from coast to coast. We operate on a strict "no a**holes" policy and have built a community of high-performers who take our work seriously, but never ourselves. While we are backed by $30MM+ from world-class investors, we are profitable, cash-rich, and control our own destiny. We don't incinerate capital; we build products that customers love and rely on. The Mission: The New Team You will report directly to the CTO and lead a newly formed "Greenfield" team tasked with a massive strategic initiative: uniting the deep data insights of ApartmentIQ with the generative workflow of Maven. You will build and grow a cross-functional team that includes up to four engineers, a product manager, and a designer. The Product Goal  We are building a system where market data drives immediate action. Instead of static reports, we want our data to do the work. When ApartmentIQ detects a vacancy or a pricing shift, it should trigger Maven to automatically generate and post engaging social media content and instantly update listing availability across the web. This ensures that prospective renters always have the most accurate, real-time information they need to make quick decisions, while property managers save hours of manual work. You will be the technical architect behind this integration.  The Role We are seeking a visionary Software Engineering Lead to architect and execute this unification. You will collaborate tightly with Product and Data Science to ship high-quality work at a pace that matches our ambition. We don't just build AI features; we build with AI. We are early adopters of tools like Claude Code and AI-assisted testing and code review. We see these as force multipliers that free engineers to focus on what matters most: high-level architecture, creative problem-solving, and building things that genuinely work. We're looking for engineers who are curious about these tools and eager to push on what's possible — not people who need to be convinced. Expect a balance of: Architecture & Coding (~40%): You'll be in the trenches, stitching together Rails backends, data pipelines, and React frontends. Leadership & Mentorship (~30%): Unblocking your team, conducting code reviews, and growing their careers. Strategy & Product (~30%): Defining the "how" of this new unified platform alongside product management. Responsibilities Lead the Product Build: Build and manage a cross-functional engineering team responsible for connecting ApartmentIQ's rich market intelligence directly into Maven's generative content workflows. Modern Development Practices: Champion the use of AI-assisted tooling — from Claude Code to automated testing agents — to maintain high standards of quality and velocity. Automated Quality: Implement and refine automated code review pipelines that handle style nits, security checks, and pattern matching, ensuring human review time is spent on architecture and logic. Architect the Solution: Design end-to-end flows where real-time market data (Postgres/PostGIS) triggers specific actions (Social Posting/Availability Updates) via our AI models. Coach & Cultivate: Conduct regular 1:1s, fostering a culture of psychological safety, technical rigor, and "don't repeat yourself" automation. Full Stack Ownership: Guide the evolution of our unified interface (React + Tailwind) and the API layer (Rails 7) that powers it. Operational Excellence: Partner with Data Science to ensure data freshness and accuracy — renters rely on this data being correct, so our pipelines must be robust. Manage the Process: Collaborate with Product on roadmap planning in Linear, ensuring we are breaking down complex integration problems into shippable wins. Qualifications 7+ years of experience shipping data-intensive B2B SaaS, with 2+ years in a Lead or Manager role. Rails & React Expertise: Deep experience with Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, and modern React/Tailwind frontends. You know how to build systems that scale. AI-Curious & Tool-Savvy: You see AI-assisted development as a natural evolution of how great software gets built. You have experience (or a genuine enthusiasm) for workflows where AI handles testing and first-pass code reviews. Data Fluency: Proficiency with data storage patterns and an understanding of data ingestion workflows. Bridge Builder: You have a track record of connecting disparate systems (e.g., merging APIs, unifying auth systems, or integrating data pipelines). Pragmatic Agility: You are comfortable writing specs in Linear one hour and debugging a background job the next. You value shipping working code over theoretical perfection. High EQ: You are a collaborative leader who can bridge the gap between technical engineering and product vision. Why Join This Team? Strategic Impact: This is not a maintenance role. You are building the flagship integration that defines the next chapter of our company, reporting directly to the CTO. Great Tools, No Red Tape: We provide the budget and the freedom to use the best tools available to make your life easier and your code better. Remote-First: We offer the freedom to work from home across most of the U.S. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of remote work, balanced with high-energy in-person offsites to build real connections and celebrate our wins together. Competitive Compensation: We believe in hiring the best and paying accordingly. You’ll receive a competitive salary that reflects your impact and expertise. Paid Time Off: Take the time you need with our flexible vacation policy and dedicated paid parental leave to support you and your family’s biggest milestones. Your Health Matters: Stay healthy with high-quality Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans for you and your family. Peace of Mind (On Us): We fully invest in your security with 100% company-paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Basic Life Insurance. Protection for Your Whole Crew: Access supplemental insurance for the unexpected, plus specialized coverage to keep your pets happy and healthy, too. Invest in Your Future: Secure your financial goals with our 401k Program, helping you build for the long term while you help us build the company. If you are ready to lead a team that builds real, high-value products using the best tools and practices available, we want to talk to you. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
