Through the expertise of our founders and team, we empower healthcare organizations to adopt a proactive approach to patient care.The RoleWe’re seeking a senior-level contractor to accelerate delivery across our External API + WebApp stack. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, data science, and clinical partners to ship reliable, secure features that support proactive patient care.This is a hands-on role: you’ll write production code, improve existing systems, and deliver end-to-end work (API → UI → infrastructure) in an AWS serverless environment.Key ResponsibilitiesBackend Services: Build and evolve backend services and APIs as your primary focus. Design, implement, and operate REST APIs and services in Python. Build durable data models and data access using PostgreSQL (or comparable RDBMS). Improve reliability and operability through logging, metrics, tracing, and robust error handling.Web Site Features: Deliver and maintain WebApp features by building UI functionality using React (hooks), component-driven development, and modern JS tooling. Implement consistent UI with HTML/CSS and Tailwind CSS. Integrate APIs and handle routing/state patterns as needed (Redux is a plus, not required).Infrastructure (IaC): Ship and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK (TypeScript or Python). Work with AWS serverless services (e.g., API Gateway, Lambda) and deployment pipelines. Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices to ship safely and often.Required QualificationsBS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science - or equivalentExperience: 7–10+ years of building production software (or equivalent depth of experience).Backend Engineering: Strong backend experience with Python and REST API design.Database Expertise: Strong SQL experience with PostgreSQL preferred (or another RDBMS), including schema design and query performance tuning.Frontend Engineering: Strong frontend experience with React (hooks) and modern JavaScript tooling, alongside strong experience with HTML/CSS and Tailwind CSS.Cloud Infrastructure: AWS CDK Infrastructure-as-Code experience (required), coupled with AWS serverless experience and a cloud-native operational mindset.DevOps & Testing: Experience with CI/CD, modern DevOps practices, and testing (unit/integration/e2e) using tools such as Pytest, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress (or equivalents).Proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality. Preferred QualificationsIndustry Knowledge: Healthcare or regulated environment experience.Observability: Observability and incident response experience (dashboards, alarms, on-call hygiene).Security: Authentication/authorization and secure API design experience.Diversity, Equity & InclusionPrealize embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way.
