We operate at the core of the product, enabling reliable, scalable data observability for customers. The team is small, highly experienced, and moves quickly in a startup environment with high ownership and accountability.About the RoleWe’re hiring Senior Backend Engineers to take significant ownership in building Monte Carlo’s cloud service, backend APIs, data pipelines, and ML platform.This is a true end-to-end engineering role—from helping define requirements and technical direction to shipping and operating production-grade systems at scale. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers in a fast-moving startup environment, owning major initiatives that directly impact customers and shape the long-term architecture of the platform.What You’ll DoBuild and maintain production-grade backend services and APIs that power Monte Carlo’s core platform, owning projects from inception through deploymentDesign and architect simple, flexible solutions and evolve them into scalable, reliable, observable, and performant distributed systemsDevelop and maintain data pipelines supporting analytics, machine learning, and customer-facing features, collaborating closely with Product, ML, and Infrastructure partnersAct with urgency and a strong ownership mindset, treating problems as yours to solve end-to-end in a fast-paced environmentYou’re a Fit If You Have5+ years of experience delivering production-grade backend services and APIsStrong mastery of Python or an equivalent backend languageProven experience designing, building, and scaling distributed architecturesExperience operating backend systems in production with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and customer focusNice to HaveExperience with PySpark, data pipelines, and data-intensive or ML-driven systemsFamiliarity with AWS and cloud-native servicesExperience working on ML platforms or large-scale analytics systems#LI-REMOTE#BI-REMOTECome As You AreEquality is a core tenet of Monte Carlo's culture.
