We are both a full-stack platform and an open research lab, enabling individuals and organizations to train their own models by directly leveraging our state-of-the-art agentic training infrastructure.We believe in a future where the ability to produce domain-specific frontier AI is democratized, and where everyone company can be an AI company that builds, trains, deploys, and ultimately owns their own models.We recently raised $15mm in funding (total of $20mm raised) led by Founders Fund, with participation from Menlo Ventures and prominent angels including Andrej Karpathy (Eureka AI, Tesla, OpenAI), Tri Dao (Chief Scientific Officer of Together AI), Dylan Patel (SemiAnalysis), Clem Delangue (Huggingface), and many others.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Lead Design Engineer to build and shape the product experience of how our users train and evaluate models on our platform.This is a novel design space, and you’ll work directly with our research teams on shaping the experience between using our software frameworks, CLI tools, and platform to with the goal of making it as easy as possible for any software engineer to learn to train models, without needing prior knowledge of AI/ML research.You’ll also interface with our talented design team on levelling up our platform aesthetics and brand.Core ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & ImplementationDesign and implement interfaces across the platform covering compute orchestration and RL trainingTranslate complex backend systems into intuitive, production-ready product experiencesOwn end-to-end product development from concept to deploymentBuild and maintain a scalable design system with reusable componentsDeveloper Experience EngineeringBuild for technical audiences: AI engineers and general software engineersConvert RL concepts into usable visual primitives and interactive workflowsImplement platform developer tools including onboarding flows and debugging interfacesCreate seamless interactions between frameworks and platform UIRequired QualificationsStrong portfolio demonstrating shipped technical or data-driven tool interfacesProficiency with modern frontend frameworks (We use Next.js)Experience designing and building for developers in technical domainsFamiliarity with AI/ML concepts and workflowsSystems thinking: ability to create scalable, maintainable component architecturesNice-to-Have SkillsExperience building ML research tools, IDEs, or developer platformsBackend development capabilities (Python, Node.js)Animation and interaction designData visualization experienceDesign tool proficiency (We use Figma)Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary with significant equityRemote-first with San Francisco hub optionTool/software budgetConference attendance opportunitiesIf you see design as more than visuals—if you shape experiences, interfaces, and systems with precision and intent—we want to build with you.Apply now.
