Overview:This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. We’re looking for a volunteer Software Development Lead with a background in software or IT to help manage small tech projects and support other technical volunteers. This person will help keep our tools and systems running smoothly by writing scripts and connecting different platforms using APIs. We work across several services (Jira, Salesforce, Google Workplace, Slack, iCiMS), and have automations to make the process of onboarding our many short term volunteers as streamlines as possible. We do this by maintaining scripts (primarily google app script/javascript) and other APIs and automated workflows.Responsibilities:Guide and support a small team of interns working on internal tools and scriptsMake sure teams are making progress on their assigned tasksStep in as backup for other Tech Team leads when neededHelp organize and track technical tasks (using tools like Jira)Assist in interviewing and onboarding new tech volunteersCommit to 6 hours per week for at least 6 monthsQualifications:Some technical, programming, or scripting experience (e.g., APIs, automation, Google Apps Script/Javascript)Ability to work independently and communicate clearlySome familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Salesforce or willingness to learnStrong leadership/team building skillsResourceful, can-do attitudePrevious leadership or mentoring experience is a plus
