Scientists design molecules based on predictions about potency, safety, and bioavailability, but validating those predictions through experiments can take months, making drug discovery slow and expensive. We’re using AI to change that. Our platform applies state-of-the-art machine learning to predict molecular behavior directly from structure, helping scientists make better decisions earlier. These models are already being used across dozens of active drug discovery programs, powered by a unique and growing proprietary dataset.Building on this foundation, we’re expanding into agentic, AI-enabled systems that help scientists analyze new data as it arrives, apply best practices, and collaborate more effectively, bringing AI directly into the daily workflow of drug discovery teams. We are seeking an AI Engineer to help bring our agentic offering, Indy, to market through backend development, evaluation, and close collaboration with medicinal chemistry experts, accelerating delivery while improving the quality, scope, and value of the product. What you’ll do:Own the implementation of end-to-end agentic AI workflows, from data ingestion and schema design to prompting, context management, tool creation, and multi-agent orchestrationPartner closely with medicinal chemists to prototype, test, and refine AI-assisted workflows that improve scientific quality, speed, and confidenceImprove real user use cases by incorporating feedback from internal users (and external customers post-launch), translating insights into product and system improvementsSupport automated integration of customer assay and experimental data into Indy environments, ensuring reliability and scalabilityIdentify and implement product improvements or new features based on hands-on collaboration with scientific, product, and engineering stakeholdersContribute to backend and system architecture decisions as the platform evolves from single-user workflows to scalable, multi-user production systemsWho you are:4+ years of experience building backend and/or data systems using Python in production environmentsExperience shipping at least one user-facing system that integrates LLMs (agentic workflows are a strong plus)Strong understanding of backend systems, data flows, and production infrastructureComfort working with data engineering concepts such as schema design, pipelines, and orchestration (Dagster, Airflow, or similar tools)Ability to collaborate deeply and effectively across disciplines, including working directly with scientists and translating domain-specific needs into robust technical solutionsComfortable owning ambiguous problems, building from first principles, and iterating quickly in a startup environmentWorking at InductiveAt Inductive Bio, we know that the people on the team are what make us great. We offer competitive salary and equity-based compensation; comprehensive healthcare benefits (including dental and vision); and the opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly scaling company. We are a passionate, kind, and mature team. Working at a fast-growing startup is not always a 9–5 job, but we believe that our employees should have full lives beyond their career.
