Job Description: biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are adding experienced software innovators to enhance our development efforts.This role is ideal for experienced developers who are well-versed in the development environment outlined below.Developers in this role will participate as highly independent individual contributors, focusing on coding, testing, and delivering features. They will collaborate with other team members to support planning and design discussions, assist in resolving blockers, and progressively build domain expertise.Job ResponsibilitiesContribute as a senior technical resource on a cross functional, agile development team including members from development, quality assurance, and business analystsBuild technical expertise for a particular domain within the overall platformImplement system features to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystemContribute to design decisionsCollaborate with Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are metFollow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvementCreate technical documentation and content, ensuring that knowledge is transferred across the teamDeliver regular and frequent code contributions aligned with User Stories and sprint goalsSatisfy unit testing requirements; collaborate closely with QA resources to guarantee successful functional and regression testing of all featuresEnsure compliance with system performance goalsThink with a security first mindsetTake ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure successProvide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the boxOccasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA area for strategy meetings (several times per year)Normal working hours based on Eastern US timeQualifications Required Education and Knowledge: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent working experience5 to 10 years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#Excellent programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with C# and .NET3+ years of experience contributing in a senior technical roleEnterprise level system architecture experience, designing and delivering RESTful APIs, integrations, and complex business processesExperience with the implementation and configuration of cloud services including serverless, data storage, messaging, logging, etc., preferably with AzureExperience with design and implementation of both monolithic and microservice architecturesExperience implementing reliable and performant data storage solutions and schemas utilizing cloud technologies including SQL DBs, Document DBs, and unstructured dataExperience with creating CI/CD pipelines supporting Infrastructure as Code (IAC)Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration capabilities, and attention to detailExperience working on large software development projects while collaborating across multiple agile teamsPreferred Knowledge and Experience:Commercial Property and Casualty insurance experiencePractical working knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, and .NET CoreExperience with TypeScript and SPA frameworks (Angular, React, etc.)About biBerkbiBerk is where commercial insurance buyers can obtain coverage for their businesses from insurers of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, one of the best capitalized insurance groups in the world.
