The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Serverless Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a pivotal role for an individual who thrives on building robust, scalable, and high-performance applications from the ground up using cloud-native technologies. You will be a critical part of a team migrating our core applications from legacy ColdFusion to a modern, serverless architecture on AWS.

What You'll Do
 Architecture & Design: Design, develop, and maintain responsive, scalable, and secure web applications with a focus on AWS serverless architecture.
 Serverless Expertise: Lead the development of our serverless backend using AWS Lambda (Python), with a focus on clean, efficient, and well-tested code.
 AI Integration: Champion the effective use of AI tools to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code quality and architecture. This includes experience with command-line AI tools and the ability to create and manage AI agents for software development.
 API Management: Design, implement, and manage secure and performant AWS API Gateway endpoints (both REST and HTTP APIs) to facilitate seamless communication between services.
 Cloud Infrastructure: Leverage other AWS services (e.g., S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch) to build resilient and cost-effective solutions.
 Code Quality: Implement best practices for code quality, including unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and continuous refactoring.
 Mentorship: Mentor existing team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What You'll Bring

 5+ years of professional experience in backend development including two years architecting cloud-native solutions.
 Deep expertise in Python for backend development, with proven experience building serverless applications.
 Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, including deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
 Strong proficiency in AWS API Gateway, including setup, configuration, security, and integration with Lambda functions.
 Solid experience with MySQL database design, development, and optimization. Experience with DynamoDB is a significant plus.
 Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and proficiency with version control systems, especially Git.
 Demonstrated experience effectively leveraging AI in your day-to-day work to enhance productivity. Amazon Q CLI, agent creation and management, and MCP experience a major plus.
 Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
 Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bonus Points:

 AWS Certifications are a plus.
 Experience with AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
 Experience with ColdFusion or PHP.
 Experience with React.
