With recent Series A funding of $15M, we're rapidly expanding our operations to meet growing demand from major media companies.The OpportunityAs a Senior Backend Engineer at Akkio, you will play an essential role in architecting and building the robust server-side infrastructure that powers our AI-driven data analytics platform. You'll lead technical initiatives for scalable systems that handle large amounts of data and drive innovation in our core backend technologies to help our customers transform how they leverage data throughout the campaign lifecycle.This is a unique opportunity to join a well-funded, early-stage AI startup and shape the future of AI-powered marketing analytics while working with a talented team. You'll be joining at an exciting growth stage, with the chance to make a significant impact on our technical direction and company success.What You'll DoLead the design and architecture of backend systems and APIs to support development of customer-facing AI agents.Take full ownership of complex technical projects from planning to deploymentCollaborate with engineers, data scientists, and marketing experts to create products that help media agencies achieve their goalsBuild and maintain infrastructure for AI/ML model deployment and inferenceDesign and build highly scalable systems that handle large volumes of data processing and analysisDrive improvements in system reliability, performance, and scalability to support our growing customer baseImplement security and compliance measures to protect sensitive client dataMentor junior engineers and establish backend engineering best practicesCreate and enforce software development standards, including code quality and testingOptimize cloud resource utilization and cost-efficient infrastructure strategiesCommunicate project milestones and progress clearly to stakeholdersWho You Are5+ years of backend engineering experience with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challengesExperience building and debugging large scale systems and distributed architecturesStrong experience writing maintainable, testable, production-grade Python codeDeep understanding of REST APIs, database design, and complex system architecturesStrong background with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure) and modern DevOps practicesUnderstanding of data processing pipelines, data storage solutions, and analytics architecturesExperience with performance optimization and scalability challengesStrong bias to execution coupled with high engineering standards and attention to detailInterest in AI and machine learning (experience a plus, but not required)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)Bonus Points:Strong experience with large language models (LLMs) and their applications in data analyticsKnowledge of data visualization and analytics toolsExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Understanding of security best practices for handling sensitive dataPrevious startup experience, particularly in early-stage companiesFamiliarity with frontend technologies and full-stack developmentWhy You'll Love Working HereJoin Akkio and help transform how media companies leverage AI in marketing and advertising.
