Job Description: Role
Who you are
5+ years of experience building and scaling Python/Django Backends and React + Typescript Frontends in fast-paced environments
Proven expertise in API development, SQL, and modern front end frameworks and technologies
Experience building customer-facing applications from scratch, making trade-offs, and executing autonomously in early-stage environments
A product mindset and strong problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and focus on delivering customer value
A collaborative mindset, fostering a culture of mentorship, shared success, and continuous improvement
Desirable
Experience with high-scale, low latency systems
Experience designing and building dynamic data visualizations
Experience with cloud infrastructure and tools like Terraform, AWS CDK
Experience with transaction, merchant, and/or location data
Experience and/or interest in fintech and/or data products
Familiarity data science and analytics tools such as Pyspark, Databricks and Delta Lake, and Hex

Collaborate on our technical vision to build a product customers love
Develop and maintain low-latency, massively-scalable developer facing APIs and a robust customer facing application for managing their Spade data and configurations
Continuously improve our engineering best practices by designing and implementing systems that allow us to expand the code base, drive productivity, and scale the team
Debug production issues across all levels of the stack
Bring a strong collaborative approach to deliver value to customers and internal stakeholders at Spade

Our take

Founded in 2021, Spade is a universal transaction enrichment API built for fintech companies. Often there is a vast amount of data that cannot be tracked or is not provided within transactions. Sometimes the name used isn't the company name, the geo data is different to where you paid etc. So this is where Spade wants to build a new generation in fintech infrastructure.
The company has developed an API that enhances all the data details around financial activity, fraud detection, merchant matching, and category organisation. These are all super appealing features for Spade customers to get to know their users’ spending habits better and keep internet banking secure.

Spade attracted considerable Series A funding when it was just two years old, demonstrating the need for this product in the market. With this funding, the company has worked on expanding its team and developed its merchant intelligence product and now boasts clients like Stripe, Bilt, Corpay, Mercury, and Unit.
